Having an aquarium is of course a great piece of decorating in its own right and will create a fantastic feature for visitors to look at. It looks fairly beautiful on its own, and then the fish swimming around inside will also offer something active and interesting to look at in the room. This becomes particularly apparent if you have children round who never fail to be amazed by the fish swimming around your tank and tend to crowd around it (and quite probably harass the fish by tapping on the glass until their parents tell them to stop). For adults the fish tend to be fairly hypnotic to watch and are entertaining in a different, far more gentle way. This is one reason custom aquariums are often found in waiting rooms for things like Drs and dentists. By having the aquarium here you prevent you visitors from being bored by giving them something to look at. But at the same time the fairly hypnotic slow movements of the fish can be very relaxing if they were feeling nervous.
