Water has an incredibly repetitive `rhythm` to it, yet at the same time it dances and trickles in a wholly unpredictable manner in much the same way as a flame, which makes it fascinating to watch and can literally hypnotise you. More than this though it also reflects and refracts light, bringing exciting light patterns into your room that dance and shimmer as the water does, making your whole room seem as though it`s an aquatic paradise. When you touch the water too this can also help you to feel more relaxed Another reason the sight and feel of water might be so relaxing is because of the things we associate it with. We associate water with being clean and fresh, which is how we all really want to feel. At the same time water is perhaps the second most important material for our survival after oxygen and it`s very important that we keep ourselves hydrated. In the wild we`d have spent long amounts of time searching out water and so it`s no surprise that we associate the presence of water with feelings of relaxation and calm. At the same time we also associate water with the way it makes us feel. When we run our hands through water and feel it trickle against our skin this is one sure fire way for us to feel massaged and relaxed and when it`s cool the way it cools down our internal body temperature can also be incredibly therapeutic.
